Sayyid Al-Hakeem: Resolving Weapons Outside State Framework Achieved by Handing Them Over to PMF
At the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Commission in Babil Governorate, His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, affirmed that the PMF emerged as a result of the blessed fatwa of the supreme religious authority, and that it was a greater opportunity than the challenge Iraq faced, as the terrorist threat had by then reached the outskirts of Baghdad, pointing to the collusion between terrorism and the Saddamist Baath.
H.E. explained the impact of the blessed fatwa, the pure blood shed, and the chivalry of the Iraqi tribes in reclaiming and liberating the land and preserving Iraq, stressing adherence to the Commission, enacting the detailed law and the PMF retirement law, along with the need to institutionalize the PMF, sustain its training and arming, and maintain its overall readiness. H.E. also stressed caring for the PMF martyrs, and commemorating, immortalizing, and documenting their memory, making it a source of pride for future generations.
H.E. pointed out that resolving the weapons issue outside the framework of the state is achieved by handing weapons over to the PMF, as an official security institution and an important element in Iraq's security equation. H.E. placed on the members of the PMF the responsibility of preserving it and shielding it from personal desires and interests, working to serve the people, and ensuring that the PMF stands as a symbol of every good deed in society and a support for everyone in need, regarding the supportive popular base as the most important and greatest suppoerter of the PMF.
